Green fingers

We recently transformed our back garden from the marshy grass that the builders left to a relaxing outdoor space. With the help a great, and very patient, builder we were able to divide the garden into different areas to make the best use of the space, and make sure we had somewhere to sit in the sunshine all day long!

I'm getting married in the morning...

ladies favours and placecards
...well not quite but in 100 days! I'm marrying my best friend, my soul mate, on November 9th this year and I couldn't be happier.

He's impressed (I think!) with my plans and organisation of our big day and of course has had to put up with me marking up bridal magazines with all my ideas! Everything is sorted now and that's when the good part begins. I get to make all the lovely place cards and favours I've always dreamt of.

And in the spirit of embracing my inner princess I've gone all out on the bling.

And I couldn't leave the gamer geek boy out so he got his own special tag, just for him.  Mine of course reads 'cook, clean, tidy'!!

A snuggle challenge

pressed and ready for the finishing touches
Following the birth of our best man's gorgeous baby girl I wanted to make something unique for her christening, something personal and made with love. I chose to tackle a snuggly cot quilt for her and was delighted with the finished result. A novice to quilting I got advice from my craft guru Gill who so willingly shares her knowledge and tips with me.

I loved making this quilt. The most difficult bit was finding a cotton wadding so it can be washed regularly - I believe babies can be messy!

Back in the groove...

The finished article
Back from a lovely weekend with my cousin in Worcestershire where we continued our ritual of making and doing! We always tackle a project I can complete and take home to show off to my other half! This time around we made ourselves new makeup bags and were both learning as it was a pattern she'd not made before. I opted for a lovely green and pink adorned with some lace and a (bit too!) perfectly put in zip!

Gamer girl?

While I will never reach the heady heights of achievement points of my gamer-geek fiance, I do enjoy a sneaky game of Bejewelled Blitz, and more recently Peggle2. They are addictive and I can see why he gets engrossed in the latest video games for hours. I love to hear his enthusiasm for the latest exploits of Trevor, Michael and Franklin in GTA's Los Santos or see his face when he got to experience the Beta of Destiny and play the game months before everyone else. Roll out the bunting

First visit in a while to my lovely cousin Gilly, and the start of a tradition we've vowed to keep going - making and doing something crafty! With her help I've run up some bunting for my newly decorated girl-study at home. I've decorated it in pastel colours and bought white furniture and the room looks fab - the newly sewn bunting will add a nice touch, can't wait to get it home and hang it in position.
Hard at work in the sewing room!

Sleep well mummy bear

Today we said goodbye to the most inspirational, caring and all round fabulous woman - my mum. She was our whole world, and we were hers.

This rainbow appeared just as we laid her to rest and I like to think that it was her telling us she's ok.

Sleep well mummy bear. I love you. xx
